Gospel singer Selina Boateng believes that not every man marries a famous woman out of love; some do so just to silence her voice.

In an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show, Selina explained that not every man approaches a woman with pure intentions.

She noted that some men deliberately pursue women with fame not to support them, but to bring them down.

“Some come purposely because of your fame. He’s coming to humble and control you so you won’t get the chance to even do the work of God,” she said.

Selina pointed out that one of the biggest challenges women in her field face is the gap between their public image and their private lives.

She explained that the person people see on stage or on television is often very different from the person they are at home. However, many men fail to understand this reality and become frustrated when they encounter a side of their wives that the public never sees.

“The media and the work we’re doing is the problem. When you’re out there, people see you differently, but the character is another thing altogether. When you get home with the man or woman, that’s when the real character comes out. You know the person when you’re in the house. So sometimes we don’t get the right people to support the ministry,” she said.

The award-winning gospel musician further noted that the nature of her work is demanding and requires a partner who is both supportive and understanding.

Drawing from her own experience, Selina advised young women to be very cautious when choosing a life partner.

“If you don’t have any relationship with God and the Holy Spirit is not with you, you’ll mislead yourself and choose the wrong person,” she cautioned.
