Leeds United centre-back Joe Rodon was part of the Wales squad for this weekend’s international fixtures, but has pulled out due to injury.
The international break this weekend comes at a potentially ideal time for United after seeing Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka suffer setbacks in August.
However, there’s always the worry that further setbacks will follow during these international fixtures, though, something Leeds and Daniel Farke are no strangers to.

Leeds United’s Joe Rodon pulls out of Wales duty with worrying injury – clarity given on timescale
Of the international contingent, three have headed out for Wales duty – those being Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon and Dan James, while out-on-loan midfielder Charlie Crew is present in the senior group too.

However, international duty for centre-back Rodon has been short-lived as he’s set to travel back to West Yorkshire following an injury setback, confirmed on Wednesday by the Wales national team:

It leaves fans concerned over the timescale of Rodon’s potential setback, having again started every league game so far this season, while only missing two league fixtures since his initial loan arrival from Spurs in August 2023, playing every minute of every game otherwise.
Thankfully, Leeds are expecting that Rodon’s injury is not serious and should be okay to face Fulham in 10 days’ time at Craven Cottage – per Adam Pope.
Joe Rodon integral to Leeds United’s solid home form to start the season
If Leeds want to stay in the Premier League this season, they need to be rock solid in home games, and two successive clean sheets suggests they have potential to be just that.
At the heart of it so far have been Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, who were both imperious against Everton and Newcastle.
It says a lot that Jaka Bijol hasn’t been thrown straight into the lineup despite being a considerable coup, because the two starters have been so solid thus far.
Let’s hope Rodon pulling out of international break is purely a precaution as opposed to anything problematic.
