NICHOLS, N.Y. (WBNG) — Tioga Downs Casino is opening for live racing this year on its customary date of Kentucky Derby Day, May 3.
Tioga Downs Casino said this season, there will be 61 live race dates and plenty of other events, including bulldog, basset hound, and wiener dog races, comedy night, giveaways, animal exhibits and contests.
Opening day features live harness races at 5:00 p.m., marking the return of horse racing for the first time since the fall.
The casino tells attendees to arrive early on May 3 for the Derby Hat Contest and grab their free magnet calendar and T-shirt.
Also, on opening day, patrons can enter to win a $500 Derby Dream Bet while watching the 151st Kentucky Derby, simulcast throughout the facility and on the infield videoboard.
Tioga Downs will hold fireworks nights, a Hambletonian trip giveaway, a “Corntastic Weekend,” and great food specials throughout the season.
