A small unit in the city centre, famed for serving up hefty portions of sweet treats, has closed. Family-run Miss Drippy only launched back in January but enjoyed success, particularly on social media, with clips of the brand’s creations gaining traction on TikTok.
Specialising in desserts and hot drinks, Miss Drippy offered speciality coffees for £1 and fan favourite sweet treats in a variety of options. The brand’s first location launched in Sheffield. Following a boom in Sheffield’s coffee scene, the business quickly branched into Liverpool shortly after.
However, the sister site, which was on Seel Street, has today, Wednesday, September 3, announced its closure. However, the ECHO understands it hasn’t opened for business for a number of weeks now.
Taking to Instagram to announce the news, the company said: “A Big Thank You, Liverpool. We want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to Liverpool for all the love and support you’ve shown Miss Drippy.

“As we close our chapter here, we’ll always be grateful for the memories, the smiles, and the community that made it so special.
“But don’t worry. This isn’t goodbye forever. It’s see you soon. On a brighter note, we’re thrilled to share that Miss Drippy will be opening in Manchester very soon. New city, same vibes – and we can’t wait to bring the Drippy experience to our Manchester family. Thank you, Liverpool – and hello, Manchester.”
The news comes after a Liverpool city centre pub on the same street shut its doors after being a go-to place for many for 20 years. Seel Street’s Peacock, which forms part of St Peter’s Square, closed at the start of this month.
However it is not all bad news. The space reopened weeks later as a new concept known as the Crooked Crown. The cocktail venue, set in an exposed brick bar complete with armchairs and wooden benches, was a rite of passage for the thousands of students who call Liverpool home.

Throughout the years, the company hosted various student-themed nights, with the most recent seeing it team up with neighbouring venue Moloko.
Together, the two held Skint every Tuesday night. It was known for being a budget-friendly night out, offering cheap drinks and a lively atmosphere.
The space will now be known as the Crooked Crown. It comes after a major refurbishment that has allowed the pub to be made larger after owners Pub Invest Group bought the former solicitors’ office next door.
The venue is said to have “the look and feel of a classic pub” to reflect the changes in the city’s hospitality scene, with more people opting for venues with more of a “local vibe”, according to the team.
