Leeds United failed to bolster their attacking ranks in the final days of the window but it appears they had plenty of players on their radar, and a £50m-rated striker was considered.
A deadline-day move to sign Harry Wilson from Fulham was attempted, but failed. Fulham decided not to rubber-stamp a move late on, and it saw the Wales star remain at Fulham despite signing two attackers.
However, failure to sign Chelsea’s Tyrique George seems to be the reason Fulham chose not to allow Wilson to leave despite already signing Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze. Wilson wanted to join Leeds.
Wilson is an attacking midfielder who can play out wide, but ask most Leeds fans and they will say they wanted a new striker. That is despite Leeds striking deals for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

Plenty of strikers were linked with Leeds throughout the window. The likes of Rodrigo Muniz, Nikola Krstovic, Artem Dovbyk and even Everton’s Beto. But Leeds only managed to sign two strikers on a free.
However, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that Leeds made an enquiry for another striker at the start of the summer window, in Strasbourg’s impressive striker Emmanuel Emegha.
Rated at £50m, Emegha netted 14 Ligue 1 goals last season and this time around, he already has three goals in four games. Of course, Strasbourg are part of the BlueCo company owned by Todd Boehly.
Strasbourg were firm in their stance however, they wanted to keep Emegha and it is clear to see why. With the way Strasbourg and Chelsea are operating, it is likely he ends up at Chelsea at some point.

Emmanuel Emegha has replaced Habib Diarra in key role
Leeds made a bid for Emegha’s Strasbourg teammate of last season, Habib Diarra, in the summer. An offer worth £22m, but Strasbourg wanted more and eventually, the midfielder joined Sunderland.
The Black Cats splashed out a whopping £30m to land the midfielder, who scored against England at The City Ground following the end of the season. Now, Emegha has replaced Diarra as Strasbourg captain.
Emegha is likely to get his name on the score sheet plenty more times this season, not least because Strasbourg have signed England international Ben Chilwell from Chelsea on a permanent transfer.
