Community officers working with special constables from the North East Support Team have conducted a day of action focusing on retail crime in Leith conducting both high visibility and plainclothes patrols.
With the assistance of response officers and the dog section (PD Asher), a male was arrested on 10 court warrants for a variety of offences, including retail theft, assaulting retail workers, and possession of weapons.
The same male was also found in possession stolen property, which is subject of further enquiry.
One male was also arrested in the Newkirkgate on a court warrant for retail theft and held in custody.
Shortly afterwards, a further male was arrested in the Newkirkgate for breaching their court bail conditions by being there and held in custody.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Please remember that retail theft is not a victimless crime and officers will continue to work with the Retail Crime Taskforce to robustly deal with offenders.”
