Well, the original Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the highest rated PS2 games ever released, so it’s safe to say that its PS5 remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta, has big shoes to fill.
Delta got off to a great start with critics, commanding some of the highest review scores of 2025 so far, but it feels as though the remake didn’t hit quite so hard with players.
Questionable performance issues have put a dampener on the release for some, while we’ve seen select Metal Gear diehards take issue with the game’s modernised feel, especially in how Snake controls.
At the same time, though, plenty of people are going about praising Delta for being such a faithful revival. Again, Snake Eater really is an all-timer, and we don’t think some kind of Final Fantasy 7 Remake-esque deal would have gone down well at all.
As for our own conclusion, we handed the game an ‘excellent’ 9/10 in our Metal Gear Solid Delta PS5 review.
“By staying so loyal to its source text, Metal Gear Solid 3 is now just as incredible today as it was over 20 years ago,” is what we wrote.
But what review score would you give Metal Gear Solid Delta? As always, that’s what we’re here to find out.

He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s played ’em all. A little too much, some might say.
