ARSONISTS destroyed a Fishponds family’s home and endangered the lives of their three young children.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack on the home in Oldbury Court Road or has video footage they think may be relevant to contact them.
Emergency services were called after a car was set alight and the flames spread to the house at around 3.20am on Saturday.
An Avon Fire and Rescue Service investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway but police say they are treating it as arson.
Officers, fire and crime scene investigators have been carrying out enquiries in the area.
‘It doesn’t bear thinking about’
Detective Sergeant Jeremy Cowburn said: “There were three young children in the house at the time of the fire.
“It doesn’t bear thinking about what could have happened, but thankfully everyone is safe, although the family home is uninhabitable.
“If you have any information, especially if you have any relevant dashcam or other footage, we need to hear from you.”
Anyone who can help should call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5225 244 743.
Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111, or online.
Latest in a series of attacks
The fire follows a series of attacks earlier in the spring and summer in which cars and motorbikes were destroyed, and a phone box and clothes bank were damaged in the Fishponds area.
Extensive damage was also caused to the derelict Farriers Arms pub, in Fishponds Road, in June.
The incidents led to a community meeting at the Vassall Community Hub in Oldbury Court with the Frome Vale neighbourhood policing team in June, at which residents were told arson reports were being treated as a priority and extra targeted patrols, using uniformed or plain clothes officers, were being introduced in Fishponds.
