Police have issued a CCTV appeal after car keys were reportedly stolen from a restaurant staffroom. Merseyside Police received a report that at around 8.45pm on Monday, August 25 the owner of a Volkswagen Tiguan noticed that his vehicle, which had been parked on Wood Street in Liverpool city centre, had been stolen.

It is believed an unknown man entered the rear of a neighbouring restaurant and took the car keys from a staffroom. He then got into the car and left Wood Street and turned onto Hanover Street.

A short time later, the car was sighted by officers on Brunswick Street and was driven away from police. The car was later found abandoned in a car park near Addison Street. Merseyside Police have issued a CCTV image of man who they believe could assist with their enquiries.

They have asked anyone who knows the man or has any information which could assist their investigation to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’.
