Stapleton Road has been closed in both directions
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man has been seriously injured in an attack, police say.
The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and a cordon remains in place at Stapleton Road in Easton, Bristol. Officers were called to the incident at about 14:40 BST.
A 19-year-old man, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Officers also arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
Ch Insp Serena Serjeant said: “This was a shocking attack and we are carrying out urgent enquiries to understand the full circumstances.”
“As a result, there’s a heavy police presence in the area at the moment and a cordon is in place in Stapleton Road to allow this work to take place.
“We would urge anyone who has any information to please report it to us,” he added.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix reports that Stapleton Road is closed in both directions, with queueing traffic due to the incident.
