Chelsea have a golden opportunity to solve one of the biggest issues in Enzo Maresca’s squad.
The Blues’ current team lacks experience and leadership, something that Maresca himself recently alluded to when speaking about captain Reece James.
Chelsea could sign someone like Marc Guehi in the summer to help address the above. The central defender has worn the armband for Crystal Palace this season and has played over 200 senior games.
However, Chelsea now actually have the chance to bring in someone with even more experience than Guehi and for nothing.

Chelsea have been linked with Jonathan Tah in the past and will have the opportunity to finally land him this summer.
The Bayer Leverkusen star’s contract expires at the end of the season and he has just confirmed that he will not be renewing it.
Speaking to Kicker, Tah said: “Everything was said from the start. There was a point in time when I made the decision not to extend my contract and not to stay here. It remains that way now.”
Tah is a 29-year-old Germany international who played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s title triumph last term.
“He is playing at this high, high level,” Xabi Alonso told reporters when discussing Tah’s form in the previous campaign.
Simply put, Tah has a plethora of experience and is a terrific centre-half. He is exactly what is needed at Stamford Bridge.
Unsurprisingly, though, Chelsea could have to go toe-to-toe with some top European clubs if they do decide to make a move for the German in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea will have some convincing to do in any potential battle for Tah as Barcelona and others circle.
According to CaughtOffside, the La Liga leaders are winning the race for the former Hamburger player’s signature.
The same outlet claims that Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in Tah.
To watch him join one of those clubs would be extremely disappointing from a Chelsea point of view, with Maresca in desperate need of a centre-half like him.
From Tah’s perspective, though, a move to Barcelona will probably be too hard to turn down.
