A child was amongst three people taken to hospital following a car crash in Paisley this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Maxwellton Street and George Street around 1.20pm when a blue Skoda collided with a white Peugeot.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service told the Paisley Daily Express: “We received a call to attend an incident on George Street in Paisley.

“We dispatched two ambulances, a critical care paramedic and a rapid response vehicle to the scene, with our first resource arriving within one minute. We transported three patients to hospital, including a child.”

George Street, Maxwellton Street and Canal Street were closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said the incident “caused significant disruption within Paisley”.

They added: “Emergency services attended and two women and a child were taken to hospital as a precaution.

“A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and enquiries are ongoing.”
