Prince Harry will continue peace talks with his father King Charles, who is ‘desperately’ seeking a reunion, for an in person reconciliation even though there are no guarantees set in stone yet about what media comments the Duke may make on the Royal family.
Harry, 40, is keen to build bridges with his dad after years of distance and upset over his statements on US TV.
Publicly, the King has not spoken of his son’s attacks on the monarchy, alleged racist comments to Meghan Markle and treatment within Palace circles, and it has been reported he would only meet with his son if he abided by “one strict rule.”
However, behind closed doors, the Monarch and aides have felt “let down” over “what were seen as very personal slurs against him, Camilla, William and Katherine” on Netflix and in Oprah Winfrey’s TV special.
A source within Charles’ friendship circle admits that “there is much uncertainty about what Harry may say about his family in future.”

And the insider noted that “it is clear that Meghan is not one to be gagged or be told not to discuss what is on her mind.”
The tricky subject of Harry’s extended multi-million dollar media deal with Netflix to produce original content is “something that will need to be addressed.”
Harry has asked to meet the King, 76, in person when he plans to visit London to attend the WellChild Awards on September 8. Charles is understood to have time in his weekend schedule, but nothing has been publicly confirmed.
The source says that Charles and his aides have yet to formally confirm a time, place and venue for any potential reunion.
Handlers acting as “peace envoys” for both men are attempting to outline the dynamics and discussion points of this reunion after 20 months estranged.
Harry is understood to have a view of “I want to see my father, give him a hug and catch up.” Harry’s emotions are high as his father has been undergoing treatment for cancer.
However some of the King’s friends and inner circle have “deep concerns” over “maintaining privacy around these conversations and these intimate family times. Harry may not view what happened with talking about his family as anything other than expressing his ‘truth’ in TV shows, but it goes against decades of Royal protocol.
“Charles wants to reconcile with his son and ideally have time with his grandchildren – of course like any grandfather. But an area where discussions are intense are whether Harry will talk about any of this in public.

“As yet there are no guarantees about whether this will remain private between them. Just how that is agreed is tricky.
“No-one is naive here. Harry wrote a memoir and filmed a documentary for Netflix opening up about deeply personal matters concerning his father and brother.
“He has re-signed a new deal with Netflix and has more books to release for Penguin Random House. Of course there are concerns.”
The insider added, “And with the utmost respect Meghan is not the type of person that can be easily held back. The Royals tried to implement their stance on her when the Sussexes first got together and it all blew up in their face.
“She is a force of nature, who if she feels the urge will speak up on matters which impact her family.”
One American associate of The Sussexes leaped to the defense of Markle.
“Look put simply, Meghan is authentic and straightforward with all these matters. She wants her husband to be happy and is pulling for him one hundred percent.
“Publicly she has been presented as being the one who took Harry away from his family and the UK, but the reality is Harry wanted and longed for that change.

“People forget that for centuries ‘the Royal way’ has always been to push down those who question their methods. Meghan was brave enough to speak up and say, ‘No. That is not how I saw it and don’t talk for me.'”
As yet Markle has not been confirmed for the visit to Britain with the couple’s two children, Archie and Lilibet.
Charles has not seen his grandchildren since June 2022, when the Sussexes returned for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
However the UK insider noted, “Genuinely Harry would like his father to spend time with Archie and Lilibet.”
Relations between the Duke and Charles are believed to have thawed after an informal peace summit with Buckingham Palace officials in July.
Harry’s expected return to London coincides with the third anniversary of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s death. But he has been committed to supporting the WellChild Awards for many years.
It would be Harry’s first visit since his failed court appeal against the UK government over the downgrading of his UK security.
Last month, photographs showed Harry’s chief communications officer Meredith Maines meeting the King’s press secretary Tobyn Andreae.
