Led by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the study will focus on connections between Goole and the Lower Aire Valley to Leeds, supporting economic growth and improving access to jobs and services.
The review comes amid rising employment and leisure travel demand, alongside plans for more than 2,600 new homes in Goole and Howden.
Councillor Anne Handley, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Goole and the surrounding communities are seeing major investment in new housing and jobs, with Siemens Mobility, Metsä Tissue and large-scale developments at Goole 36 and the Humber Freeport creating opportunities for thousands of people.
“Reliable, sustainable public transport is vital to connect residents with these opportunities and ensure businesses can access the workforce they need.”
The study, commissioned from consultants Stantec, will develop a “case for change” to explore better strategic transport links between Goole, Knottingley, and onward connections to Leeds, Hull, and Wakefield.
The area under review includes Goole, Rawcliffe, Snaith, Hensall, Eggborough, Knottingley, Pontefract, Featherstone, Castleford, and Normanton.
People are being encouraged to take part in a survey to share their travel habits, barriers to using public transport, and future travel choices.
