Prince Harry “made Princess Kate cry” with adorable nickname for her in his speech at the Prince and Princess of Wales’s wedding. Standing next to his brother at his 2011 nuptials – Harry showcased how close the brothers really were in his speech.
In his 2021 book titled Brothers and Wives, royal author Christopher Andersen shared what Harry said – and how well it went down with the wedding guests. Mr Andersen wrote: “In his best man’s toast, Harry apologised to Kate “for having to marry a bald man.” delivered spot-on impressions of William, “cooing down the line at Babykins” and Kate calling his brother “Billy” and referred to them repeatedly as “the dude and the duchess”.” He then continued: “There were muffled sobs when Harry told his brother, “Our mother would be so very proud of you,” and sighs when he said he loved Kate like a sister.”
Moving his sister-in-law to tears, Mr Andersen then added: “At one point, the bride wiped away tears when her newly minted brother-in-law traded smiles with Chelsy and admitted that Kate and William’s decade long romance was his “inspiration”.”
Speaking of the end of the day, he added: “Harry put his arms around around William and Kate and began to weep.
“Soon the best man and the bride were helping brush away each other’s tears while a bemused and thoroughly dry-eyed William looked on.”
He then added: ‘”People don’t realise how much Harry and Kate love and help each other,” an other guest said of the moment. “It’s key to this whole thing”.”
Previously speaking back in 2021 on the Royally US podcast, Mr Anderson said: “Harry was always close to Kate and he always said she was the sister he never had.”
He also got “very emotional” at William and Kate’s wedding, with the expert previously saying: “He described her as his sister and she got emotional too!
“They always had this banter, they had similar senses of humour.”
