A heartbreaking video of a crowd gathered to pay tribute to an Edinburgh man who died in an alleged stabbing has been shared on social media.
Police were called to an incident in the capital’s Great Junction Street at around 2am on Tuesday, September 2 where tragically, 22-year-old John McNab was found injured and later died on the scene.
People came together on the same street to remember the young man, who has been described by his loved ones as the “life and soul of his family”.

The video was shared on the popular social media platform, TikTok.
In the touching footage, people can be seen laying flowers and lighting candles in John’s memory. The tribute was placed along the Barclay’s Funeral Directors on Great Junction Street where the ‘stabbing’ was said to have taken place.

Flowers can be seen laid up against the building, with bouquets lining almost the entire shopfront.
In the comment section of the video, people shared their condolences. One person wrote: “Fly high John xxxxx thinking of his friends and his family.”
While another penned: “Such a shame, may he rest in peace and give his family strength to carry on.”
And a third added: “This is absolutely heartbreaking. Forever 22 John. Will be sadly missed by everyone that knew you.”
A teenage boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 4, after the death of the young man.
He was charged with murder and with allegedly carrying a blade in a public place. The 16-year-old made no plea or declaration and has been remanded in custody while the case was committed for further examination.
