Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that possessing an ‘unlimited’ transfer budget would make a manager’s job considerably easier – despite never enjoying such luxury himself.

The German tactician currently serves as head of football for the Red Bull Group following his departure from Anfield last summer. Arne Slot stepped into his shoes and subsequently guided the Reds to their second Premier League crown and 20th top-flight championship.

The Merseyside giants have also been busy in the summer transfer market, with the headline acquisitions being Florian Wirtz, who arrived for £116 million, followed by the deadline day capture of Alexander Isak for £125 million. Freddie Woodman, Giovanni Leoni, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike also completed switches to Merseyside.

Whilst Klopp received financial support during his tenure at the helm, his expenditure never approached this summer’s massive outlay. When questioned by 433 about whether he would favour unlimited training time or an unlimited transfer budget, Klopp responded: “Sorry I cannot decide.

“My preferred situation would have been unlimited budget and then unlimited time to train. Both is not possible.

“Coaches need more time to train definitely, but unlimited budget makes life much easier. I can tell you. Not from experience just from…I heard about it.”
