David Moyes was reportedly a guest of Aston Villa during their 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last Sunday.

The Times claims that the Everton boss was in the boardroom for the Premier League clash as Unai Emery’s side slipped to defeat.

But Moyes was not there for any other reason than to take a closer look at Villa who are Everton’s next opponents.

The Times reports: “Data analysis experts may reign supreme in professional football but David Moyes, the Everton manager, likes sizing up opposition in person.

“Moyes was a guest of Aston Villa’s directors to witness Crystal Palace’s 3-0 win there last Sunday and was hosted in the boardroom at Villa Park. Everton’s next Premier League opponents are Villa.”

Villa travel to Everton after the international break with the former looking for their first win of the season.

Everton, meanwhile, have won their last two Premier League games having beaten Brighton and then overcoming Wolves 3-2 at Molineux.

The meeting between the sides will also be significant in the fact that Villa will also be reunited with Jack Grealish who sealed a season-long loan move to the Toffees from Manchester City in the summer.
