GTA 6 is making a huge change to cops from previous Grand Theft Auto games, including GTA 5. In fact, GTA 6 is introducing a first for the series. With rumors of how much it is going to cost to make, and rumors about how much longer it is going to be than previous Rockstar Games’ releases, the expectations are massive for GTA 6. Not only is the expectation that it will be light years beyond GTA 5 and a substantial upgrade on Red Dead Redemption 2, but out of the league of every other game to date. This new change is not indicative of whether Rockstar Games is preparing to meet these lofty expectations, but it is a surprising change considering the history of the series.

Whether it be GTA 3, GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City, GTA 4, GTA 5, or any other GTA game, a Grand Theft Auto game has never had female police officers. This is at least the case with the mainline games, as GTA: Chinatown Wars did have female law enforcement, and the same is true of some missions in GTA Online. None of the mainline games, though, and Rockstar Games has never really said why, though it’s likely due to technical reasons, as adding female police officers would require additional work. Meanwhile, it doesn’t really match up great with the satire of the series, or at least it didn’t used to, because it is changing with GTA 6.

Spotted Detail

The second GTA 6 trailer is several months old now, but Grand Theft Auto fans are just now noticing a female police officer can be spotted in the background of one scene from it. In the scene, three police officers can be seen dealing with suspects, and one of these officers is female, as GTA 6 Countdown points out over on X.

Now, it is worth pointing out that this is just a trailer, and this may not be the case with the final product. However, Rockstar Games is good about only including in trailers what will be in the final game, so there’s no reason to expect that this scene is exclusive to the trailer. Rockstar Games is infamous for cutting lots of content before launch, but this is typically missions, gameplay systems, and larger stuff rather than something more granular like this.

All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think. GTA 6 is expected to have many new features GTA 5 did not have. Do you think this is an example of a good change or a bad one?
