At least eight people are understood to have become unwell

Police were called to a Greater Manchester restaurant at lunchtime today (September 6) following reports a number of diners had been taken ill.

Emergency services attended Dosa Kingss on on Northenden Road, Sale, at around 12.40pm. It is understood several customers were treated inside the restaurant after becoming unwell.

According to Greater Manchester Police, people were treated at the scene for ‘minor reactions’. Another diner is believed to have ben affected more seriously.

The Manchester Evening News understands the incident is related to food eaten at the South Indian street kitchen and bar.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police spent several hours managing the area. Pictures from the scene shared on social media showed a significant response by the emergency services.

Northenden Road was closed for a time while police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene. Investigators quickly ruled out a gas leak, say police.

The M.E.N. has been told at least eight people were poorly, and one of those more seriously than the others.

By Saturday evening, Greater Manchester Police had left the scene. It is understood officials from Trafford Council and the Health and Safety Executive remain in attendance.

A spokesperson for GMP said: “At around 12.40pm today (6 September), we received a report of people becoming unwell at a restaurant on Northenden Road, Sale.

“Emergency services quickly attended and several people were treated at the scene for minor reactions. Enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.”
