Cops have locked down Princes Street in Edinburgh with a building evacuated over a suspicious package sent to a business.
Emergency crews have descended on capital this afternoon with fire and rescue teams and police swarming the area.
It’s understood a suspicious package was delivered to a commercial premises on the busy main street near Edinburgh Waverley.
Police Scotland say the building has been evacuated with a cordon now in place around the area.
Major roads have been shut down surrounding the street, with closures in place between South St Andrews Street and North Bridge. Motorists are being diverted away from the scene.
The road has since reopened and the incident has been stood down.
It is understood that it was a false call and there were no issues with the package.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Saturday, 6 September, 2025, we received a report that suspicious package had been delivered to a commercial premises on Princes Street, Edinburgh.
“The building has been evacuated as a precaution.
“Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance and the package is being examined.
“A cordon is in place.
“There are road closures in place along Princes Street between South St Andrews Street and North Bridge.
“Diversions are in place.”
