Firefighters were called to an apartment building after a blaze broke out on the balcony of a flat.

Crews attended the Budenberg residential development on Woodfield Road in Altrincham this morning.

Firefighters arrived at 9.30am and spent about three hours at the scene.

The blaze was extinguished and searches were carried out to ensure that all residents were safe.

There have not been any reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is unclear.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said, “At 9:30am this morning, firefighters were called to reports of a building fire on Woodfield Road in Altrincham.

“Eight fire engines from Sale, Altrincham, Wythenshawe, Stretford, Salford, Withington and Eccles fire stations quickly arrived at the scene, where a fire had broken out on the balcony of the sixth floor of an apartment building.

“Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and carried out searches to the building to ensure all occupants were accounted for.

“Crews were at the scene for around three hours.”
