This big win for Spain away to Turkey (0-6) had a distinct blaugrana flavour to it, as four FC Barcelona players featured in this second 2026 World Cup qualifying UEFA Classification E match, namely Pedri, Ferran Torres, Lamine Yamal and Fermín López, with three out of four directly involved in goals.

Pedri puts on show

Standout performance from Pedri, topped off by a brace. His curling first from just outside the area after a lovely feint opened the scoring after six minutes, and he went on to get the last goal for Spain, slotting past the keeper into the far post after good work by Oyarzabal.

Fourth goal ‘made in’ Barça

You can’t look past the fourth goal for Spain if you are of a blaugrana persuasion as no fewer than three FC Barcelona players were involved and one twice in this great counter-attack.

Ferran Torres first won a header in midfield on to Pedri, who carried the ball to the edge of the area before passing to Lamine Yamal, who in turn awaited the onrushing Ferran Torres and he fired in with a low shot. Golazo ‘made in’ Barça. Barça’s number 10 also assisted Mikel Merino for his hat-trick goal and completed eight dribbles in the game.

So, with the blaugranes shining bright, Spain are top of the group after two games and a step closer to the 2026 World Cup next summer in USA, Canada and Mexico.
