Manchester United had a busy end to the 2025 summer transfer window, with a flurry of activity at Old Trafford last week.
The Reds shelled out £18 million on deadline day to secure the services of goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, amid uncertainty surrounding Andre Onana’s future in M16. Head coach Ruben Amorim is banking on the 23-year-old, who held the record for the most clean sheets in the Belgian Pro League last season, to make an immediate impact at United.
On the departure front, United sanctioned several exits, including Rasmus Hojlund, who finalised a loan move to Napoli. In other developments, Antony completed a permanent switch to Real Betis, Jadon Sancho joined Aston Villa and Harry Amass left to join Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday.
Below is a look at the latest media reports concerning United, along with our take on each one….
Onana ‘financial boost’
Onana will reportedly earn more during a potential loan spell at Trabzonspor than he does with United due to a signing on fee and bonuses.
talkSPORT also claim that the goalkeeper asked for a pay rise at Old Trafford this summer. It is claimed that United were waiting on his decision after verbally agreeing a deal with Trabzonspor, with the Turkish transfer window open until September 12.
Isaac Seelochan of The Manchester Evening News says: “Onana’s days at United are surely numbered. The former Inter Milan goalkeeper has let his side down too many times and a sale or loan to Trabzonspor would be a good scenario for United.”
Eriksen claim
Former United midfielder Christian Eriksen is reportedly attracting a lot of interest from Premier League clubs.
“Christian Eriksen is still available as well,” Football Insider‘s Pete O’Rourke claimed. “He obviously spent last season at Man United but left when his contract expired earlier this summer.
“He’s another good free agent and I’m sure there are a number of clubs who are looking at him. It’s Premier League and Championship sides, or clubs in Europe who have been having a look at him since he left United as well.
“Eriksen has great experience of playing at the highest level and wants to get back to playing there. The player has been waiting to see what offers come in for him, and now that the window’s closed there is likely to be less competition for him.
“That means he’ll get better offers from clubs soon, probably in the next few weeks. If there are any major injuries or suspensions, it will open the door for Eriksen to find a new club and get playing this season.”
Isaac Seelochan of The Manchester Evening News says: “Eriksen was an excellent servant for United in his first season at the club, but age and injuries caught up with him after that. It would be a surprise to see him in the Premier League again and surely a move to another European league would be more likely.”
