The old properties at Glenfinnan Road are understood to be derelict and the community centre has been temporarily relocated with all its services.

Once the housing development is concluded, the hub will move into a brand new council-run community facility.

In the previous phase, the three Wyndford towers were blown up in March this year, with the fourth block due to be dismantled manually by experts.

Hundreds gathered to watch the explosion, which shook the neighbourhood.

Following the demolition, a public consultation was launched to give an insight into the plans.

Wheatley also revealed that the work is expected to start on the site next year, with a completion date of 2030.

However, the first tenants could start moving in as soon as 2028.

“With demolition of the four multi-storeys complete, we’re moving ahead with the next phase of regeneration.

“This final phase of site clearance will pave the way for nearly 400 larger, energy-efficient homes – 85% for social rent – which will be life-changing for local families.

“The wider regeneration includes a brand-new Community Hub, improved green spaces, walking and cycling routes, a play park, and better parking and bin areas.

“Construction is due to begin next year, with the first homes ready in 2028.

“The tenant-led Wyndford Futures Focus Group is working with the design team to shape the masterplan and create a thriving neighbourhood for today’s and future generations.”
