We’re just waiting for a translation of Netanyahu’s comments at the scene – we’ll bring those to you as soon as we get them.

Meanwhile both the Israeli police and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have issued statements following the shooting.

Israeli police say that the attack occurred at 10:15 local time (08:15 BST), when two people opened fire at people waiting at a bus stop near Ramot Junction.

“A soldier and several civilians at the bus stop engaged the attackers and returned fire,” it adds, killing both of the suspects.

Officers were sent to the scene and evacuated the injured alongside medical teams and recovered weapons – including ammunition and a knife – used by the attackers, it continues.

Meanwhile, the IDF says it has sent soldiers to the area and are searching there for suspects.

“Simultaneously, IDF soldiers are currently encircling several areas on the outskirts of Ramallah to thwart terrorism and strengthen the defence effort,” it adds. Ramallah is in the occupied West Bank.
