Paramedics treated eleven diners at a restaurant which was the centre of a major emergency services response at the weekend – and two of them ended up in hospital, it has emerged.

Council environmental health officers have now started an investigation into the drama at Dosa Kingss in Sale, Trafford Council has also confirmed.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to Dosa Kingss in Sale at lunchtime on Saturday (September 6) following a 999 call amid reports a number of diners had been taken ill.

Emergency services attended the venue on Northenden Road at around 12.40pm. It is understood several customers were treated inside the restaurant after becoming unwell.

A spokesperson for Trafford Council said today: “Our environmental health officers are continuing to investigate an incident at Dosa Kingss over the weekend.”

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said approximately eleven patients were treated at the scene, including two who needed further care at hospital.

The Manchester Evening News understands the incident is related to food eaten at the South Indian street kitchen and bar.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police spent several hours managing the area on Saturday afternoon. Pictures from the scene shared on social media showed a significant response by the emergency services.

Northenden Road was closed for a time while police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene. Investigators quickly ruled out a gas leak, say police.

By Saturday evening, Greater Manchester Police had left the scene and officers have now handed the matter to officials from Trafford Council.

The M.E.N. has made a number of approaches to Dosa Kingss for comment. The restaurant has not responded but it has issued a brief statement on its Instagram and Facebook pages.

In the statement, the restaurant said: “Dear valued customers, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are temporarily closed. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding and support. We look forward to serving you again.”

A spokesperson for GMP said on Saturday: “At around 12.40pm today (6 September), we received a report of people becoming unwell at a restaurant on Northenden Road, Sale.

“Emergency services quickly attended and several people were treated at the scene for minor reactions. Enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.”
