There could be trouble ahead for Coronation Street‘s Carla Connor and Lisa Swain, AKA Swarla.

The couple got engaged last week and the family were finally happy, but Monday night saw the return of Lisa’s dead wife Becky Swain. It turns out Becky has been alive the entire time, ever since her apparent demise in the line of duty in 2021.

Four years on, and Becky just showed up like nothing had happened, leaving Lisa reeling. But Becky actress Amy Cudden has hinted there’s an agenda for her comeback after all this time, and it’s not good news for Swarla.

Becky has been in hiding with more to be revealed very soon. Asked why Becky has returned, Amy explained that it very much has to do with Lisa and Carla’s engagement.

It seems Becky wants to win her wife and daughter back, after faking her death for the last four years. But will she come between Lisa and Carla?

Amy confessed: “Becky’s wife, Lisa, is about to get engaged and married to another woman, Carla. It was dangerous for Becky to return before, but her primary objective is to be with her wife and daughter.

“While there wasn’t a direct threat to that central family unit, she kept her distance. Now that Carla is a clear threat and Lisa and Carla are deeply in love, Becky feels she must return to try and reclaim her family even if that puts her at risk.”

So Becky is prepared to endanger her life to stop Lisa moving on, four years on from her apparent murder. But it seems Becky has been keeping tabs on Lisa and daughter Betsy Swain the entire time.

Amy explained: “Yes, absolutely. I think if you saw her ‘screen time,’ it would be 98 hours a week looking at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and X, thinking about them. Her life in Alicante is hollow without them; nothing matters unless she gets her family back.”

With that, we now know Becky has been hiding out in Alicante, but what does her return mean for Swarla? Fans will have to wait and see, but it’s not lost on Amy how much the couple are loved by fans.

Asked if she was aware of Swarla, she said: “Yes, it would be hard not to, there is so much about them online. My cousin in Sheffield and his partner watch the show, and I remembered them talking about Swarla.

Even though I don’t watch much TV due to lack of time, it was a phenomenon you’d hear about on the news or online.” She went on: “I had a long conversation with Kate Brooks the producer the day after I got the part and that was when I realised what a big story it was going to be.

“I went in knowing more about Carla and Lisa’s relationship through my research of old episodes. I was given a ‘robust skeleton sketch’ of Becky, but a lot was left for me to fill in. Vicky and I discussed their shared history, including songs important to them, their wedding dance, first date, and who proposed.”
