George Russell satisfied with Mercedes’ finish at Italian Grand Prix
George Russell started sixth on the grid and managed to gain just one position in Sunday’s race at Monza. His Mercedes teammate, Kimi Antonelli, racing in his home country, finished ninth after a collision with Williams driver Alex Albon.Despite the challenges, Russell expressed satisfaction with his performance. According to Formula1.com, he said, “We were expecting to be two-tenths behind Ferrari and a bit more behind everyone else. I was reasonably pleased – I don’t think we could have done anything more. I think it was just very challenging to get by Charles – they were so fast on the straights. Had I just managed to get past him, it could have been a slightly different picture. Obviously that wasn’t the case. It was a pretty scrappy opening few laps, but fifth was where the car deserved to finish today.”He added, “Obviously a bit of a shame to lose more ground to Ferrari in the constructors’, but I was pretty satisfied with the race.”Also Read: Kelly Piquet joins Max Verstappen’s Italian Grand Prix triumph, shares inside look at celebration dinnerRussell currently sits in fourth place in the F1 Drivers’ Standings with 194 points.
