KIMBERLEY Woods won double gold for Great Britain at the International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom World Cup in Augsburg, Germany.
Woods won gold in the women’s canoe final and also the kayak final to also win the overall title in both events.

The Rugby canoeist finished on top of the podium in both events to make the perfect preparation for the upcoming Canoe Slalom World Championships in Perth, Australia later this month.

Woods said: “I’m a bit speechless, to be honest.

“I just found a bit of a groove, so to be able to do that after three runs, I’m pretty pleased. I think I improved a lot from run to run.

“Hopefully I’ve not peaked too early before the World Championships but I’ve got a lot of confidence now.

“I’m pretty buzzed, I think the highest I’ve ever come in the overall kayak was eighth and I was happy with that considering the field at the moment.”

Woods finished ahead of Team GB teammate Lois Leaver and America’s Evy Leibfarth in the overall kayak standings.

And the Rugby paddler beat Slovakia’s Zuzana Pankova and Italy’s Marta Bertoncelli to the women’s canoe title.

She jumped from sixth in the standings to finish first overall and claim another gold medal.
