The Woerdenweber family were one of the original Gogglebox familiesLiverpool Gogglebox star looks unrecognisable 10 years on with new life abroad
A former Gogglebox star appears completely transformed a decade after departing the programme.
Since the cherished Channel 4 series launched back in 2013, it has brought us numerous memorable households across the nation: from Giles Wood and Mary Killen in Wiltshire to the Siddiqui family in Derby.
The Liverpool-based Woerdenweber household was amongst the original Gogglebox families, featuring mum Viv, dad Ralf, daughter Eve and her partner Jay. It’s safe to say the household swiftly became a favourite with viewers.
As for Jay, he gained the moniker ‘Silent Jay’ owing to barely uttering a word whilst on camera, reports the Manchester Evening News.

However, in 2015, Jay departed the programme following his break up with Eve. But now, a decade following his Gogglebox departure, Jay appears quite different and he’s even relocated to an entirely new country.
On his X profile, Jay’s bio states: “32 [peace sign emoji] [location emoji] Rotterdam [Netherlands flag]. Make every second divine [music notes emoji]. #Gogglebox series 2-5.”
Jay left in 2015
Jay, who now lives in Rotterdam, also sports a fresh new appearance, with Jay opting to ditch his lengthier hair for a cropped style. Meanwhile, last year, Jay’s former Gogglebox star Viv graduated from University of Liverpool with an MA in Archaeology.
Viv first arrived at the University to participate in the Go Higher Programme when she was 56, as pursuing education had been a lifelong dream.
She revealed it was daughter Eve who provided her with the confidence to take the leap.
He now lives abroad
Viv found her studies so rewarding that she chose to advance through various educational stages and plans to continue with a Masters in Archaeology on the horizon.
Speaking about her transition from Gogglebox to academia, Viv told the Liverpool Echo: “It’s been hard, much harder than I thought it would be but I’ve made a lot of great friends.
“The teaching here is absolutely phenomenal all the academics are great. They go above and beyond and archaeology is a passion.”
Gogglebox series 26 airs on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
