Camilla’s outfit, from one of her go-to designers Fiona Clare Couture, was perfectly paired with her hat, designed by Philip Tracy. Perhaps most poignant, however, was the brooch she had pinned to the chest of her coat dress. The piece has a mysterious background, with little known about its origins.

Camilla first began wearing the jewel in the summer of 2022, suggesting it isn’t a piece from the late Queen Elizabeth II’s collection, which she inherited that autumn. The Queen first stepped out with the piece for Ascot in 2022, before rewearing the gemstone again for the first state visit of the President of South Africa that November.

It could, perhaps, have been a gift from King Charles, or another close family member, to Camilla to mark her 75th birthday, which took place in July 2022.

In recent months, the Queen has been seen wearing sentimental jewellery which once belonged to her late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II for significant events. Among her favourites appear to be Margaret Greville’s royal bequest which she most recently wore to meet the Pope earlier this month.
