Liverpool’s newest bar is preparing to open this week. Behind Closed Doors is set to open its first set of customers through its doors on Colquitt Street this Friday, September 12.

Known for its risqué cocktails and racy interior, BCD first opened in Manchester in May 2017, with a second venue in Leeds following in August 2024. The company was built on a fun and suggestive concept, with the bar’s Manchester site on Oldham Street historically known for its x-rated video shops.

Taking the venue’s heritage and combining it with the kitsch and comfortable bar that the team wanted to create, Behind Closed Doors was born. The concept takes inspiration from living rooms in the 1960s and 70s with the added touch of debauchery and vintage erotica.

Liverpool’s Behind Closed Doors has been decked out in plush booths and dark hues creating the “ultimate late night bar feel”. It is complete with the bar’s signature DJ booth constructed from trolleys and its old school telephones that are available on each table allowing guests to call others in the building.

The founders believe with its boogie, funk and soul music, it will be a “perfect addition to Liverpool’s buzzing nightlife”.

Director Nick Parr said: “We’re so excited to open our doors in Liverpool and we know how much everyone is going to love Behind Closed Doors in this amazing city.

“Complete with our signature features including the DJ booth and telephones, as well as some new and unique additions, our Liverpool bar is equal parts ‘sex, rugs, funk and soul’ and as much vintage erotica that we could get our hands on.

“We love to party at Behind Closed Doors and so we’ve created the Mayfair Suite and Disco Room for big groups where we can welcome 10-30 people at one time, or our booths are perfect for groups of four to six people. We’re very excited to welcome everyone to celebrate this weekend.”

The bar’s owners have over 20 years of experience in hospitality, working their way through all levels of roles and management and came together to launch the debauched bar with a menu filled with classic cocktails.

The city’s space will be adorned in suggestive erotic decor, complete with phone lines to call other tables – a signature feature for the bar – and its famous DJ booth constructed from trolleys, with a capacity of 150 guests.

Similarly to the other sites, the basement tavern will bring with it, its speakeasy vibe, speciality spirits & DJ nights. Liverpool’s BCD is open Wednesday and Sunday from 5pm until 3am and Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 5pm until 4am.

To celebrate the launch, BCD is running a competition running on their Instagram page with several prizes up for grabs, including a trip to Amsterdam, a £500 bar tap and a private booth.
