Great Oaks Care Home was inspected by the CQC on Thursday, July 10 and Friday, July 11 and was given a “good” rating across all five areas of assessment: safe, effective, responsive, caring and well-led.

The care home provides residential, dementia, palliative, respite and nursing care, and this was the first inspection since the arrival of the new home manager, Michelle Balsdon, who started earlier this year.

The report also said that independence was promoted, and residents were offered choices in all aspects of their care.

Feedback from relatives was also positive, with the CQC saying that “relatives told us staff were kind and caring and that they were reassured their loved ones were treated with dignity and respect.”

Ms Balsdon, who has more than 20 years of experience in social care and the NHS, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded a ‘good’ rating from the CQC.

“This well-deserved acknowledgement is testament to the professionalism and passion the team has for caring for every single resident in our care.”
