Emergency services rushed to Bristol city centre this morning, Tuesday, April 22, due to a serious medical incident.

At 9.41am this morning, the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) were called to an incident on College Green.

According to a witness, several ambulance vehicles arrived at the scene, including the air ambulance..

In total, two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, a first responder, a doctor and the hazardous area response team were sent.

The SWASFT were also joined by Avon and Somerset Police.

Officers were asked by the ambulance service to help assist in dealing with the medical incident.

College Green was closed off to traffic to allow for the paramedics to treat the person affected.

The person was later taken to hospital by a land ambulance.

A spokesperson for the SWASFT said: “We were called at 9.41am on Tuesday, April 22, to an incident in Bristol.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, a first responder, a doctor, and the hazardous area response team to the scene.

“We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Bristol Royal Infirmary.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were asked by the ambulance service to support them while their paramedics were responding to a medical incident.”

According to a witness, the area was cleared by around 10.40am and the road was reopened.
