Sri Lankan cricketers Vishen Halambage and Eshan Malinga have been picked by Paarl Royals, the South African SA20 franchise owned by the Rajasthan Royals.
Halambage was secured for R200,000 (USD 11000, while Malinga fetched R1 million (USD 55,000) at the player auction held on Tuesday. The Paarl Royals franchise, which serves as the sister team of IPL’s Rajasthan Royals, made the double swoop as part of their squad building for the 2026 season.
Former Sri Lanka captain and current Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara was present at the auction and played a role in the team’s selections. (Newswire)
