A suspect has been named after a man was arrested at an airport. Merseyside Police said a man from Liverpool was charged with several drugs offences following an arrest at London Heathrow airport by Merseyside Police on Tuesday, September 9.

Joseph Miles, aged 38, previously of O’Reilly Court, Vauxhall, has been charged with conspiracy to fraudulently evade the prohibition on the importation of class A drugs (cocaine) and class B drugs (cannabis). He was also charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs (cocaine and heroin), and class B drugs (cannabis).

He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court today, Wednesday, September 10. Merseyside Police said the charge forms part of the Merseyside Police response to Operation Venetic: a national investigation into the use of EncroChat encrypted mobile devices.
