Troubadour Theatres has announced plans to open a major new venue on Greenwich Peninsula, featuring two 1,500-seat auditoriums.
The development, named Troubadour Greenwich Peninsula Theatre, is set to open in autumn 2026.
The new complex follows the company’s existing sites at Wembley Park, currently home to the WhatsOnStage Award-winning production of Starlight Express, and Canary Wharf, which will open in October 2025 with the eagerly-anticipated first stage adaptation of The Hunger Games. The Greenwich venue will serve as a receiving house for large-scale productions and international live entertainment.
The theatre will be located in the heart of the Greenwich Peninsula development, which already includes over 5,500 residents and 180 businesses. According to the operators, it is designed to “cement Greenwich Peninsula’s reputation as a premier destination for arts and culture” with strong transport links to central London and the surrounding counties, with an easy proximity to the O2 Arena.

Troubadour founders Oliver Royds and Tristan Baker said the expansion marks “a thrilling new chapter” for the company, adding: “As the waiting list for West End theatres gets longer we’re delighted that these new theatres will allow us to welcome even more ambitious productions and provide audiences with unforgettable live experiences. We can’t wait to share what’s coming next.”
Laura Flanagan, director at developer Knight Dragon, described the project as “a powerful new home for creativity” on the Peninsula.
Programming plans for the venues will be revealed in due course.
