SVG Europe has appointed experienced sports industry journalist and editor Callum McCarthy to the newly created position of Editor-at-Large.

McCarthy, the former editor-in-chief of SportBusiness, has covered deals, trends, and developments across the global sports industry for more than a decade. Callum McCarthy: Will contribute regular analysis articles for SVG Europe

At SVG Europe, McCarthy will contribute regular analysis articles that focus on the business of sports broadcasting and the areas of transformation and disruption that are shaping the sector.

SVG Europe Editorial Director George Bevir welcomed the appointment. He said: “We are delighted to have Callum contribute to SVG Europe as Editor-at-Large. His track record of delivering insight into the commercial and structural changes in sport is second to none, and his work will help us serve our community at a time of significant disruption and opportunity.

“Our aim is to build on our market-leading position as a provider of news and insight into the creation, production, and distribution of sports content by also offering perspective on the challenges facing broadcasters, streamers, and rights holders – where they are investing and why, and what it means for the wider market. Callum’s expertise will be central to that mission.”

McCarthy added: “It’s a really exciting time to write for SVG Europe as they expand their coverage into new areas. I’ve always had huge respect for their unparalleled reporting on the production sector, and I’m looking forward to sharing insights and stories with such a well-respected community.”
