The blueprint aims to improve and safeguard nature and green spaces across the West Midlands.

The public consultation is part of the preparation for the West Midlands Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS), led by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), councils and partners.

The consultation will continue until Friday, September 12, with residents invited to scrutinise and comment on the draft LNRS at the WMCA website.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for economy and infrastructure, said: “While expert knowledge has been critical in developing the LNRS, it is equally important to understand the views of people who live and work in the region.

“That includes people in our borough, and I’d really like as many people as possible to take part in this consultation.”

He highlighted the significance of green spaces, citing a previous WMCA survey where nearly two-thirds of respondents said green spaces were important.

He said: “As such, we have to protect them at all costs.

“This strategy will help preserve our beauty spots for future generations to enjoy and protect habitats so wildlife can continue to flourish and thrive.”
