A YouGov survey analysed by Elanic Medical found that 56 per cent of Welsh respondents described themselves as either “not very happy” or “not happy at all” with their weight and body image, the highest rate of dissatisfaction in Great Britain.
Marc Frossman from Elanic Medical said: “Women reporting a higher rate of dissatisfaction was to be expected, given the well-known societal pressures placed upon them, but it’s important to remember that 43% of men also reported the same unhappiness.
“This shows us that although there is still a higher bias on women, men still suffer from body image phenomena like the ‘superhero standard’ promoted on screen.”
The survey found that people in London were the most content, with 58 per cent reporting they were fairly or very happy with their body image, followed by the south of England outside of London at 51 per cent.
