Anton Stach’s solid start to life at Leeds United sees him in with a chance of sneaking into Germany’s 2026 World Cup plans.
The international break has come to an end this week and Leeds didn’t have a huge deal of their first team squad involved.
Premier League performances will have a major bearing on the United squad’s chances of featuring in the 2026 World Cup, including German international Anton Stach.

“Exciting profile” – Anton Stach tipped for World Cup callup by Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann
A £17.3million summer signing, Stach is one of those that hopes a move to England helps his chances of international recognition.
Despite leaving Germany, top form in the Premier League may catapult him right into Julian Nagelsmann’s 2026 plans.

That’s according to SportBild, who detail each player that holds an outside chance of a Germany call-up. Stach is included, naming the two-cap international as an ideal partner for £39m-rated Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.
“The last of only two international matches so far in the summer of 2022 [sic]. But a good start to the season with the newly promoted Premier League team, plus an exciting profile as a strong running midfielder and sweeper in front of the defence.
“Nagelsmann is still looking for an ideal partner alongside captain Joshua Kimmich (30).”
Anton Stach stats so far in the Premier League revealed – second in PL for chances created
Stach came to Elland Road with a strong reputation in the Bundesliga as a player akin to Declan Rice’s profile. His attributes have fed right into Leeds’ focus on physicality, a 6ft4in ball-winner that has already covered ground immensely well.
In breaking up play and getting forward well, Stach is Leeds’ current chief creator of chances, and one of the best in the division too, something that could boost his Germany aspirations.
Only Man United’s Bruno Fernandes (12) has created more chances in the first three games than Stach. Of the German’s 10 created, seven have come from open play.
Anton Stach could sneak into Germany’s World Cup squad with Leeds United form
It’s a very small sample size to go off, but Stach has really impressed me so far. It’s not a surprise that he’s seen with potential to play in Germany’s current team.
He looked the business in pre-season, backed it up against Everton and Newcastle, while having a tough outing against Arsenal (but everyone did).
Knowing how good he was in the Bundesliga, it’s no shock he’s been a standout for Leeds thus far, and that’ll catch Nagelsmann’s eye no doubt.
There’s every chance Stach’s stock continues to rise while we’re in the Premier League, given the spotlight he’s constantly under.
