A popular bakery restaurant chain has closed all of its UK sites – including two shops in Greater Manchester.
Last week, Cinnabon UK customers were surprised to find a number of its branches had mysteriously shut whilst its website also went offline. The dessert shop is known for serving an array of cinnamon rolls, hot coffee, fruit coolers, and sweet blended ice drinks.
Following the closure of sites in Newcastle and Liverpool, both Cinnabon branches in Greater Manchester – in the Trafford Centre and Deansgate – were closed last Friday (September 5).
The Cinnabon branch in the Trafford Centre had only opened last year, and was met with big queues from fans on opening day to get their hands on the chain’s signature cinnamon roll.

First launched in the US in 1985, there are thought to now be around 5,000 Cinnabon stores across the world. The chain launched in the UK in 2020 and had around 20 branches nationwide at the height of its popularity here.
But it has now been confirmed that all sites in the UK have closed as part of a ‘strategic shift’. Alongside high street stores, the closure also affects shopping centre kiosks and its UK website.
EG On the Move, which is the franchise partner that collaborated with Cinnabon on its UK launch, said in a statement: “EG On the Move has made the strategic decision to close all Cinnabon locations operated in the UK. This was not a decision taken lightly but it reflects the strategic shift to focus on our core convenience retail business.

“This decision aligns with our wider business strategy to focus on areas where we can deliver the greatest value to our customers.”
It is understood that at least 13 stores have now closed as part of the decision, which EG On The Move said were mostly in shopping centres. These include multiple locations in London, as well as sites in Edinburgh, Bristol and Sheffield.
A spokesperson for the franchise operator added: “We extend our sincere thanks to our team members for their dedication, to the Cinnabon brand team for their ongoing partnership, and to our customers for their loyalty and support.
“EG On The Move remains committed to providing exceptional food and retail experiences across our 150-site network, and we will continue to invest in evolving our offerings to meet changing customer needs.”
