A TOTAL of 14 fire engines attended a severe blaze in Longbridge last night (Wednesday).
The fire broke out around 10.35pm in West Works Way.
At the height of the incident, 14 fire engines and two hydraulic platforms attended and worked to extinguish the flames.
Residents living nearby were told to stay indoors and keep all of their doors and windows shut to prevent smoke entering their properties.
Crews – more than 60 firefighters – were supported throughout the night by drone operators giving a bird’s eye view of the incident.
The building, measuring around 30m by 50m, was constructed of steel frame and metal sheeting.
West Midlands Fire Service said: “Firefighters have made good progress extinguishing the fire overnight, and we have scaled down significantly.
“Currently, three fire engines remain at the scene as crews continue to damp down any remaining hotspots.”
There have been no reported casualties or injuries at this incident.
A structural engineer is now at the scene.
Bristol Road South was closed between Longbridge island and the McDonald’s as the emergency services and engineers deal with the scene.
