Waterloo station will be closed for four days over Christmas and will have a reduced timetable for the following week, due to major engineering works on the railway between Vauxhall and Waterloo.

Network Rail has announced that the closure is needed because engineers will be spending Christmas replacing 1,000 metres of track between Queenstown Road station and Nine Elms junction. This work includes excavating and removing the current ballast stone and debris that support the track, then installing new ballast and sleepers.
They will also replace four sets of switches and crossings, and they’ll also renew 1500m of conductor rail to improve electric power delivery to trains.
In addition, Queenstown Road station platforms will need to be altered to fit the new track layout.
Impact
25th to 28th December: No trains will call at London Waterloo, with trains terminating at Clapham Junction.
29th Dec 2025 to Sun 4 Jan: There will be a reduced service to Waterloo – timetables will be available from 3rd October.
In addition, Queenstown Road and Vauxhall stations will be closed from Thursday 25th December 2025 to Sunday 4th January 2026, reopening on the Monday.
