John Cena has been announced for Liverpool Comic Con. The fan convention is set to return this autumn, bringing a number of stars to the Exhibition Centre Liverpool from Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, November 16. Thousands of fans are expected to turn out at the event over the weekend for a chance to meet some of their favourite celebrities.
Organisers have announced WWE superstar John Cena as its latest guest.Cena is a record 17-time world champion, holding the most recognised world title reigns in the promotion’s history, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
He has also starred in numerous films and TV shows, including The Marine (2006), Bumblebee (2018), and F9 (2021), as well as currently starring in the TV series Peacemaker (2022–present) as the eponymous lead.
John Cena will be appearing on the Saturday only. He joins an already star-studded line-up, which includes Dirty Dancing icon Jennifer Grey – famed for her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off actress Jeanie Bueller.
Throughout the weekend, attendees can look forward to autograph signings, professional photo sessions, and live Q&A panels where stars will discuss both their past work and upcoming projects.
More guests are expected to be announced as the event draws closer.
John Cena was spotted in the city back in 2023 while filming for Heads of State. The 17-time WWE champion was spotted in an around the city while filming was underway.
He starred as US President Will Derringer in the action comedy, which also stars Idris Elba as UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke. The two must set aside their differences after they are shot down in Air Force One and targeted by a ruthless adversary.
Cena, who is the current WWE Champion, was pictured working out at JD gyms on Dale Street when production of Heads of State came to the city.
Wearing a black top and black cap, the wrestler smiled and gave the peace sign as he took a photo with JD personal trainer Sam. Taking to Twitter, JD Gyms said: “Check out this photo of our amazing Personal Trainer Sam at JD Gyms Liverpool Dale Street posing next to our logo. What a guy… what a gym.”
Comic Con fans were thrilled with the announcement. Responding to the announcement on Facebook, Max Carroll said: “Best announcement ever.”
Another added: “I am definitely going to Liverpool for this.” A third said: “Not going to lie – nearly wet myself a little bit.”
