An exhibition of early photos from the rock band Blur on tour in the USA has gone on display in central London.
The photos were all taken by Blur’s drummer, Dave Rowntree, and cover the group’s early years while on tour. In a way, they’re holiday snaps of the sort that most people hate being subjected to looking at, but with the glitter of showbusiness, they’re elevated to a historical record of an event in time.
It’s about 20 photos in total, so not the largest of exhibitions, and as with most of this genre, it helps if you’re a fan of the group if visiting, otherwise it’s “random people in photos”.
But fans will probably enjoy seeing them.
The exhibition, No One You Know: Dave Rowntree’s Early Blur Photos is at Foyles on Charing Cross Road until 6th October. It’s free to visit when the store is open and can be found on the 5th floor.
