A popular Manchester restaurant is giving customers the chance to cut their bill in half for one day only – but there is a specific condition to the offer.

Pizza restaurant Forbici opened its doors in the Baroque-style Anglia House in the city centre earlier this year offering its Neapolitan-style creations, which start from £8 each.

When it opened back in April, queues of people lined the streets for a chance to try their ‘new wave’ pizzas, including the Margherita – made with San Marzano tomato, fior di latte, parmesan and fresh basil – and the Diavola featuring spicy Napoli salami and chilli flakes.

Made with the world’s ‘most powerful dough’, its pizzas are proofed for 12 hours to have a ‘delicate airy crust with high-walls’. The name Forbici is taken from the Italian word for scissors, which are served with each order. The venue also features large scissor-style door handles to further reinforce its concept.

Served up the traditional Naples way, the scissors are used to cut up slices instead of using cutting wheels. It’s used to maintain the ability to fold each slice just perfectly and authentic to its Italian roots.

From Monday (September 15), Forbici will offer customers the chance to cut their bill in half – quite literally. After enjoying their meal, diners will be given their receipt folded with a pair of scissors. If they manage to chop the bill perfectly through the number, they will get half price off their order.

Described as a playful nod to the pizzeria’s heritage, the deal will run daily from between 3pm and 5pm only.

“The new era of Neapolitan pizza in Manchester starts with how we eat it,” Davide Argentino, the Master Baker at Forbici, explains. “Cutting pizza with scissors isn’t just tradition; it’s respect for the craft.

“We want to pay homage to our name and put our iconic Forbici scissors to the test with a fun and playful initiative which gives guests a rare opportunity to enjoy our world-class pizza at half the price.”

Alongside pizzas, the restaurant also serves craft beer from Amarcord, one of Italy’s first independent breweries, and a range of wines. Desserts include Pistamisu – a mix of pistachio and mascarpone cream – as well as cannoli and affogato.

Forbici is on 86 Cross Street, Manchester, M2 4LA.
