In my article on Wednesday, I stated that just when you think the Celtic board couldn’t descend any lower, they take it down another level.

Well, today it seems they’ve very much continued on the downward trajectory.

No shocks there, right?

As I said, these grey suits are so out of touch, it defies all logic.

As a result, they’ll just plough on with the plan, oblivious to the fact the entire Celtic fanbase wants them gone.

They don’t know any other way to operate, so they’ll just carry on regardless.

Ignore it, and hopefully it’ll go away.

Unfortunately for them, this time it won’t go away.

For a few weeks now, we’ve known that Charlie Mulgrew has been a mouthpiece for the board.

It’s clear to everyone he knows where his bread is buttered, and that he’s been told if he toes the party line he’ll be looked after.

So, based on his comments on Go Radio, he’s been told to float the idea of Shaun Maloney getting the Celtic job after Brendan Rodgers leaves at the end of his contract.

The board obviously think they’re smart by doing what they’re doing.

Kill two birds with the one stone, yeah?

Put Shaun Maloney in people’s minds and also make people accept that Brendan Rodgers will be gone at the end of the season.

Newsflash, we’ve all spoken about a Shaun Maloney project for months.

We’ve known and accepted Brendan Rodgers will be gone come the end of this season.

Anybody who might have doubted that prior to this, certainly doesn’t now, after the board’s full frontal attack on the manager in the Sun last weekend.

The Shaun Maloney idea?

Well, that just feeds into the mind numbing lack of ambition the board displays.

They are beyond predictable.

This board could not form an original thought for the progression of Celtic if their lives depended on it.

They only know how to take this club backwards, and this is just another facet of that uncanny ability.

Here is what Mulgrew had to say on Shaun Maloney:

It would be unfair to start saying people or touting people for the job, but I think Shaun Maloney’s a really good coach, and would be a good manager.

But you are already touting people for the job, Charlie.

That’s exactly why you’ve mentioned Shaun Maloney.

This didn’t happen by some coincidence, it’s happened because it has been mentioned to Mulgrew.

If nobody had mentioned it inside the four walls of Celtic Park, then why would Mulgrew just randomly bring it up on a sports radio show?

Mulgrew then went on to wax lyrical about Maloney’s coaching abilities and qualifications:

He’s worked at a high level, at the national team with Belgium, worked closely with Roberto Martinez. A right good coach. John Kennedy’s an unbelievable coach.

But Brendan Rodgers is in the job just now, and it’s up to him to get the team playing, and back to more of a threat in the final third.

Note how John Kennedy’s name has been dropped in there too?

And there you have it, the next management dream team for Celtic.

World class in everything we do.

Maloney failed at Hibs, getting the sack after just one win in 13.

He then left Wigan in March of this year with the EFL club sitting 15th in League One, and just 6 points above the relegation zone.

World class coaching levels indeed.

With the addition of John Kennedy, a Sellick man through and through, we will be in two safe pairs of world class hands.

He knows the club inside out, and of course, most important of all, he will do all the bidding of the board, no questions asked.

So there you have it.

Three short paragraphs from Mulgrew sum up what lies ahead of us.

Rodgers will 100% be gone at the end of the season.

Maloney will be the next manager.

And John Kennedy will be his number 2.

This is the world class level of ambition we face if the current board remains in situ.

Now, as I alluded to earlier, it isn’t exactly as if we haven’t mentioned this on our blogs or on the Trinity Tims podcast before, is it?

None of this should come as a shock to anyone with a brain out there.

The big question here is this one; is this the “World class” future you want for Celtic?

If your mind wasn’t already made up about the board, then this should quell any remaining doubts whatsoever.

If they remain as custodians of our club, we will continue to go backwards at an exponential rate.

The downward spiral has been spectacular since last January.

This will just be a continuation of that.

Remember, “every house divided against itself will be brought to desolation”.

We all know Celtic is now officially a house divided.

Nothing good will happen at Celtic under this board.

But you already know that.

It’s time for them to go.
