The Famous Grouse Pre-Season Friendly • Scotstoun Stadium • Friday 12 September 2025 • Kick-off 7.30pm

Highlights and Key Moments

  • Glasgow Warriors came out on top with a 40-31 win over Northampton Saints in a free-scoring affair at Scotstoun.
  • The visitors opened the scoring early, with Callum Chick touching down for Northampton. Anthony Belleau converted.
  • Glasgow responded through Dan Lancaster, who scored after a strong run by Fergus Watson. Lancaster missed the conversion.
  • Tom Pearson then scored for Saints, with Belleau’s kick successful.
  • Glasgow answered in kind: a rolling maul saw Gregor Hiddleston power over the line. Lancaster converted.
  • Just before half-time, George Hendy went over for Northampton, but the conversion went wide; Glasgow still led at the break.
  • In the second half, the teams traded tries. Glasgow’s Johnny Matthews crashed over from a maul, Lancaster adding the extras.
  • Matthew Urwin created space for Josh McKay to score near the end, Urwin then converting.
  • Northampton had their moments too, including exploiting Glasgow’s discipline lapses—at one point a yellow card for Saints gave the hosts a platform to press.

Standout Performers

  • Gregor Hiddleston made a strong impact, scoring tries and exerting physicality in the forwards.
  • Dan Lancaster contributed well with his try and place-kicking.
  • From Saints, Tom Pearson and George Hendy were bright in attack, both managing to cross the line.

What This Means Going Forward

  • The match gave Glasgow valuable opportunities to integrate senior players (like Jack Dempsey returning) and test combinations in real game conditions.
  • For Northampton, despite the loss, there were positives in attack and in how they repeatedly put pressure on Glasgow’s defence. Discipline will be one area to clean up ahead of competitive fixtures.
